When emergencies occur, being prepared is important. One way you can be ready to face one is to enroll in first aid and CPR course as soon as possible. You will have peace of mind knowing that you are ready when an emergency arises.
A young girl, 9-years old was given CPR after a near-drowning incident. At the time of the incident, the staff at the Lawson Civic Centre were scrambling after a young girl who was found unconscious in the water.
Near drowning incident
The 9-year old girl was on a field trip with Brunskill School in Saskatoon. She was taken out of the water by lifeguards who quickly delivered CPR. Luckily, the girl regained consciousness and was transported to a healthcare facility. According to the ambulance officials, the girl is expected to be in stable condition.
The City of Saskatoon stated that the staff at the civic center will receive a critical incident debriefing due to the course of the events.
Watery safety and first aid training
When spending time near sources of water, safety is always a priority. Children should be strictly monitored at all times, especially the younger ones. Aside from maintaining safety measures, it is important to learn first aid skills especially cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
