Solar plexus is one of the important parts of the body positioned beneath the chest and above the abdomen. It is essential for the functioning of various areas of the body such as the kidneys, stomach, gall bladder, spleen, small intestines and the liver.
Solar plexus is also called celiac plexus which is a collection of nerves from different parts of the body that is attached to this organ. In addition, it is the vital organ and the energy center of the body.
Causes of solar plexus pain
- Feels like some butterflies or worries within the stomach
- Poor breathing due to stress, anxiety and tension and cause an inadequate supply of oxygen to the abdomen.

- Apply hot or cold compress to lessen the pain and the inflammation of pulled stomach muscles. Generally, performing exercises such as karate, gym workouts and cycling causes pain in the plexus muscles. Hot compress can be in the form of a hot water bottle or a heat pack. Avoid ice or heat directly on the skin to prevent further irritation and worsen the condition.
- Mix a few drops of tea tree oil and lavender or chamomile oil. Soak a clean face towel and place on the affected area to reduce the soreness and the pain of the solar plexus.
- Perform yoga exercises using the hands or poses is good for the condition. Furthermore, perform twists, stretches and bending to relax the affected area and lessen the pain. Regularly performing breathing exercises improves the digestion and lessens the pain.
- Antacids can be used to lessen the levels of acid in the stomach, relieve the gastric mucosa and lessen the pain.
- Consult a physical therapist for recommended rehabilitation exercises to lessen the pain and symptoms of solar plexus.
Tips
- Regular physical exercises that includes walking, jogging or cycling and being active throughout the day to lessen the pain in the affected area.
- Avoid excessively stretching the body during physical training. In addition, avoid overdoing proper warm up and cooling down phases.
- Take plenty of rest after performing strenuous activities, sports or gym workouts.
