Did You Know?
Angina or Chest Pain
Angina pectoris refers to chest pain that is caused by inadequate blood flow and oxygen supply to the heart, due to a blocked, bleeding, or narrowed coronary artery (they deliver blood and oxygen to the heart tissue). When the heart doesn’t get enough oxygen, the heart tissue starts to die, in turn causing the chest pain. More information about irregular heart arrhythmia here.
Anginas can be brought by about by poor eating habits and vices such as smoking. Stress can trigger chest pain as well, because of increased blood pressure. Anginas usually go away with rest and medication such as nitroglycerin. However, if the pain continues despite rest and medication, the person may already be experiencing signs of a heart attack.
