CPR-C and AED

CPR-C is one of the most basic and popular CPR courses available. Candidates enrolled in this course will learn simple CPR techniques that can be applied to adult, child and infant victims. Candidates will also receive certification in the use of automated external defibrillators or AED’s. The following page is a description of CPR-C courses.

Providers that offer CPR “C” Training

The following is a list of providers that offer CPR “C” courses:

  • St. Johns Ambulance
  • St Mark James Training
  • Vancouver First Aid Ltd.
  • Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada

Certification

If a student completes the CPR “C” class he or she will be awarded a CPR “C” and AED certificate. All of the major providers offer certificates that are valid for 3 years and are valid throughout Canada. The certification is meets legislation standards and is government approved certification. Certification is nationally accredited and accepted throughout Canada.

Prerequisites

To be eligible for the course candidates must be at least 12 years of age.

Pre-reading or Homework

Some providers require candidates to read through certain materials or chapters prior to attending the course. Some providers or training partners will assign homework prior to the course.

CPR “C” Course Content

Using an AED during CPR - training course
Participants of CPR level “C” courses will learn to use an automated external defibrillator (AED).

Students registered in this class will learn the following content:

  • Recognize and treat victims that are breathing and unconscious.
  • Recognize and treat victims that are not breathing and unconscious.
  • Recognize and treat victims that have obstructed airways and are conscious or unconscious.
  • Treat victims that are in cardiac arrest by using an automated external defibrillator.
  • Recognize and treat victims suffering from cardiovascular emergencies such as strokes, heart attacks and angina.
  • Legal rights and protection when being a first aider.
  • How to stay safe and prevent further harm.
  • Candidates will also learn about the provider that is offering the course.
  • Roles and responsibilities as a first aider.

Course curriculum includes all the CPR from levels “A” and “B”.
